Bletchley Park

We went to Bletchley Park, where Britain broke German codes during World War II. The first picture is a reconstruction of Colossus - the world's first programmable electronic computer. This was built to break German codes.

The second picture is a statue of Alan Turing, one of the builders of Colossus.

The third picture is me using a Sinclair ZX Spectrum. This was the first type of home computer my uncle Paul owned.

Shorts in the snow

Gareth decided that it was warm enough for shorts today! It was about 6 degrees Celsius, which is just under 43 degrees Fahrenheit! And, as you see, the snow we had hasn't melted yet. But at least he didn't get mud on the bottoms of his zip-offs! He got some funny looks, too, as most people here are really bundled up - this winter has been much colder than they're used to!

London Eye

This is me at the top of the London eye the largest ferris wheel in the world. In the first picture , behind me is the Houses of Parliament (Westminster Palace) and the Clock Tower (not Big Ben!!! Big Ben is the bell inside the tower!!!)

Shakespeare's Globe, London

This is Shakespeare's Globe in London or at least the recreation of it. There's actually been three globes, one was taken by a fire set off by a prop cannon in June 1613. Shakespeare died two years after the second one was built in 1614. Then finally the third one was built in 1997. The globe was the stage where Shakespeare's plays were performed

Warwick Castle

This is me at Warwick castle. There's been a castle on this spot since 1068. The first picture is the courtyard and the second picture is the trebuchet.

Pittville Park, Cheltenham

Here's me at Pittville Park in Cheltenham. Cheltenham is where my Dad is from. In this picture our whole family is feeding the ducks which my little cousin Millie enjoyed very much.

The Inklings

Hi. This is me at the Eagle and Child. This is the pub in Oxford were the Inklings - a group of writers including J.R.R. Tolkien (writer of Lord of the Rings) and C.S. Lewis (writer of the Narnia series) and a few other writers whose names I do not know -  used to come and discuss (or argue) Literature. Here's a link to the Wikipedia page about them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inklings.
